ReplyDeleteYour video displays incorrect, improper, and illegal ways to change a receptacle. Not only does is it a fire hazard its also a potential lose of life. With no knowledge of the device works or correct anything. the number of code violation that have been made are seriously in the double digits.

ReplyDeleteDELETE THIS VIDEO! Fundamental errors in safety (not checking power is cut, for example), and in wiring (hot to silver screw, no ground connection), and no final testing for polarity and ground (both would fail). Stick to playing with wrenches.

ReplyDeleteNot only have you demonstrated how to dangerously and incorrectly replace a receptacle in your home, you have created an unsafe situation for yourself, your home and your family. You successfully violated several National Electrical Code requirements and safe working practices. You should remove this video before someone gets hurt or killed. Wish you much luck in Graphic Design, but stay away from electrical work.
ReplyDeleteThis is beyond unsafe, not only were you at risk while doing the work but everyone that uses that outlet or anything plugged into it is at risk. DO NOT REPLACE AN OUTLET AS SHOWN ON THIS VIDEO, YOU COULD GET HURT OT KILLED. The best thing that could happen is for this video to get pulled.

ReplyDeleteDidn't verify the circuit was de-energized. Positive and negative? Really? Hot to brass, neutral to silver. If no ground is present, the outlet must be labeled as such. Wouldn't hurt to plug in a circuit checker to make sure polarity is correct. It also would indicate no ground. Go buy a decent DIY book. Above all, don't make electrical videos when you don't have a clue!

ReplyDeleteTo reiterate what has been previously posted. REMOVE THIS VIDEO. YouTube can be very dangerous for the layman. You cannot install a 20a receptacle on a 15a circuit. According to the NEC, you cannot replace an ungrounded receptacle with a grounded receptacle. There is no need for child covers on a tamper resistant outlet. NEVER mix up the hot and neutral wires to have reverse polarity. This install video is dangerous and potentially life threatening.
